5th Grade

american_war_indepedence_george_washington_crossing_delaware

During the 5th grade students will study American history in the following units:

1 – The Age of Exploration & Conquest of the Americas

Students learn about the reasons behind the expansion of European powers between the 1500s and 1700s and how their journeys of exploration reshaped life and societies around the world.

2 – Colonial America

Students learn about the different British colonies of North America and how they developed different cultures and economies based on their geographies and peoples. Students will also explore the reasons for the eventual split between the colonies and the British government between the 1750s and 1770s.

3 – The War of Independence

Students learn how the United States gained their independence from Britain and discover the impact of the war on different places and people.

For each unit I have (or will) upload a complete slideshow as well as YouTube playlist so students can review lessons at home or catch up with any missing work.

There are also a large number of extra-credit and extra-curricular materials for students (and hopefully parents) to enjoy that will enhance your knowledge and skills.
